The German Deutsche Welle English website posted a report on 30 May 2017 about threat of Islamist extremism in Balkans titled: Could Balkan nations become the new hotbeds of Islamist extremism? The report says Muslim communities in the Balkans are facing a growing problem - Islamist radicalism. Both the US and Germany have voiced concerns about extremism taking root in a region still struggling to heal war wounds.
It is alarming to see how the Iranian regime is trying to spread its brand of Islam in Balkans. According to the Tasnim news agency, affiliated to the Iranian regime’s terrorist Quds Force, the Iranian regime has launched a 24-hour TV network called global “Balkan network” to cover Balkan countries.
Tasnim emphasizes the objective of the “Balkan network” is to influence Balkan public opinion against the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) and to propagate dialogue about Islamic Revolution (fundamentalism). This network is currently broadcasting programs in Bosnian and is due to launch an Albanian program too. Tasnim news agency belongs to Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC). The Quds Force is the extraterritorial entity of this organ that is very active in terrorist measures across the globe, including the Balkans. The US government and Senate are assessing to designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization.
The director of the “Balkan network” in an interview by Tasnim news agency reveals the objectives of the Iranian regime behind launching the 24-hour TV network:

Mohsen Sohani, (director of Balkan network) said that the best way to propagate dialogue about the Islamic Revolution in Balkan region is TV waves and producing attractive programs.

Excerpts of the interview:
The “Balkan network” objective is to deliver a correct image of the Islamic Republic of Iran / Necessity to discuss (PMOI) presence in the Balkans since they have influence in the Balkan. There are 10 countries in the Balkan region. …. Our revolution has a letterhead; no matter what language, race or ethnicity, whoever is against arrogance can be our viewer. Our news branch thrives on the motto of delivering the truth. We cover that aspect of news that is censored in this region….

Sometimes the way that Bosnisn people are viewing us is exaggerated. It is not true that Bosnin people think if it was not the IRI the Bosnia did not exist. However, they do accept the humanitarian approach used by the Islamic Republic in its foreign relations. Yet this very issue has been diluted amongst their younger generation due to the propaganda used….I think the language of art with kind of attractions that drama and stories have is the best tool of attraction. An example in this regard is the Quran. It established a dialogue from Saudi Arabia Peninsula to Europe, to North Africa and China.
Our objective is to first deliver a correct image of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Step two is to work on our audience’s taste. During this period we attempted to launch news and strategic-related programs that meet our audience’s taste.
We have reached some agreements to broadcast Iranian films and TV productions from local stations in Balkans. The Iranian TV channel and its international affairs have a complex in in Sarajevo. This has enabled us to have an active wave of studios….
We have a certain program titled “Dialogue” that has earned a reward. This program has been planned based on the cyberspace environment and the challenges the Bosnian people are facing including immigration, unemployment and social dilemmas. Fortunately, it has been very effective. I am trying to say we will pursue our objectives. We are broadcasting through Hotbaird satellite covering a large part of Europe and even America.
