On Saturday, 30 June, the large annual gathering of the Iranian Resistance was held in Paris. In addition to Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, many bipartisan political dignitaries from the U.S. and other countries including France, U.K., Germany, Canada, Jordan, Syria and Albania delivered speeches.
This year's gathering was held in a situation where, on the one hand, the U.S. has withdrawn from the nuclear deal, and the U.S. sanctions against the regime have been applied again, on the other hand, the uprising of the Iranian people, which began last December, even continued until the day of the gathering and the vision of a regime change is very clear.
The speakers declared their support for the Iranian people’s uprising and the democratic alternative, the National Council of Resistance of Iran. They called on the international community to adopt a firm policy against the mullahs’ religious fascist tyranny and stand by the people of Iran who have risen up against the dictators ruling the country.
In her speech, Mrs. Rajavi praised the uprising of the Iranian people and emphasized: “Indeed, the uprising cannot be extinguished and will continue without respite, constantly expanding and deepening.”
She told to the people of Iran, I have come here to declare what you want: The overthrow of this regime is inevitable. Victory is certain and Iran will be free, but emphasized: “As we have always stated, and I repeat, the task of overthrowing the regime, bringing about democratic change and establishing a free Iran rests on our shoulders and those of the Iranian people.”
Ms. Rajavi enumerate the apparent signs of regime change and mentioned “the campaign to create phony alternatives” as one of these signs and condemned it.
Despite this, she dismissed this policy as unsuccessful and reminded that: “We are not rivals to anyone seeking to assume power. And most certainly, no one can rival the MEK when it comes to honesty, sacrifice and paying the price.”
16 years ago, the Iranian Resistance adopted the plan on the National Solidarity Front for the Overthrow of the Ruling Religious Dictatorship and declared that it was prepared to cooperate with all forces who want a republican form of government, who are committed to the complete rejection of the velayat-e faqih regime and who struggle for a democratic, independent Iran, based on separation of religion and state, She also added.
Other speakers also emphasize on the need for a regime change in Iran.
Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, said: “I believe that it is realistic that we see an end to the regime. We have seen this before with the people taking to the street, against all opposition, with numbers that threaten to topple the regime. When that happens, freedom is right around the corner.”
“You’ve been able to form resistance units all over Iran. Those protests are being coordinated, and what this means is that we have an alternative. Next year, at this time, I want us to have this convention in Tehran.” He added.
He addressed European states and said: “To those countries that continue to support Iran, you are paying for a regime that deprives women and children of their rights and kills opposition. How much better are you than the terrorists?”
“Here, we have an alternative to the Regime that is built on democracy, human rights, and separation of church and state. That’s what the NCRI stands for, that’s what Maryam Rajavi stands for. That’s what your martyrs died for.”, he emphasized.
Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the US House of Representative: “We need to shame the European governments who are working with the Regime and insist that they join the sanctions once again. We need to encourage the US government to tighten the sanctions. Our goal is not to start negotiations, it is for a free and democratic Iran.”
“We need to show the Iranian people that we’re on their side and on the right side of history. Human beings everywhere want to govern themselves. I believe that freedom will come, it has been paid for by the blood of patriots," he added.
“I want you to know that all the Americans on stage are committed to communicating that the NCRI is the movement to bring freedom and democracy to Iran.” Mr. Gingrich stressed, “I look forward to the day that this meeting can be in Tehran in a free country.”
Robert Torricelli, (Member of the U.S. Senate from 1997 to 2003) said “Let us make this fundamentally clear, we stand here as democrats and republicans, we may have our differences but all of us stand behind Donald Trump to see the destruction of the mullahs to the end. To the mullahs, let's make this clear: you are in the fighting ring of history. We stand the people in the streets of Iran fighting for freedom; you stand to defend the restriction of freedom. One will lose, one will win, but I’m counting on us. To those on the streets on Tehran, being Iranian still means you can be prosperous, free, happy, and have a future. Soon, you’ll all be free.”
Bill Richardson, former Governor of New Mexico and Former US Ambassador to the United Nations said: “All you read about is water shortage, corruption, executions, and enormous political unrest. You know why? Because the end is near. What you’re seeing is enormous change. I want you to know that America stands behind you.
A lot of people ask is there an alternative to the mullahs, the dictatorship? The answer is yes, it’s the resistance, Madame Rajavi, the MEK. You were there in the trenches, fighting and dying. You represent a platform of freedom and democracy, for equality, free and fair elections. You stand for young people having a future with jobs.
“The power is with you, everyone in this room. Each one of you represents thousands in Iran. The end is near”, he added.
