In recent remarks Iranian Revolutionary Guards Quds Force chief Qassem Suleimani emphasized the mullahs’ Defense Ministry has been working and transferring weapons to Iraq round the clock.
Iran has placed the keys to its arms caches at the disposal of the Hashid al-Shabi’s commander, referring to the Iran-backed Shiite paramilitary forces in Iraq, acting parallel to the country’s official security apparatus.
The Iraqi army is becoming a Hezbollah army, Suleimani continued, making a reference to the Lebanese Hezbollah.
Attending a funeral ceremony on Monday, Suleimani expressed words about recent developments in the region, especially Iraq and Syria.
[Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei] always emphasized the government … should not withhold any support from Iraq… and therefore Iran’s Defense Ministry was making weapons for Iraq round the clock and sending them,” he said.
“Abu Mahdi al-Muhandes, commander of the Hashid al-Shabi was able to get hold of the [Iran’s] arms caches… after they requested the IRGC’s sole Sukho fighter jet squadron was placed at Iraq’s disposal instantly. Thousands of tons of weapons were given to them by [Iran],” Suleimani added.
“Today, the Hashid al-Shabi structure is stronger than any regional military. There is no longer any trace of the Baath Party in the Iraqi Army, and this army is becoming a Hezbollah army (meaning adopting the Iranian regime’s fundamentalist ideology),” he continued.
“I have to especially express my gratitude to Hezbollah forces who played a major role in the victories of Iraq and Syria. I would like to kiss the hands of [Hezbollah chief Hassan Nassrallah] and thank this jihadi organization,” Suleimani underscored.
