On the verge of the grand gathering for a Free Iran in Le Bourget
Over 70 National Assembly Members support Mrs. Rajavi’s 10-point plan for a democratic Iran
Parliamentary Committee for a Democratic Iran in the French National Assembly and the Senate French Committee for a Democratic Iran condemn the July 4th rocket attack against Iranian dissident refugees in Camp Liberty, Iraq.
Statement
The theocracy ruling Iran, based on its nature, continues to support terrorist groups and provide for extremist groups in the region, all in the name of Islam. The barbarity of Daesh (ISIS, ISIL) cannot and should conceal this historical reality. From a human rights point of view, Iran according to the United Nations is the leading state in executions per capita, including the execution of juveniles. The truth is this regime is a dictatorship lacking political freedom, and freedoms of belief and speech. There are no free and democratic elections [in Iran]. Crackdown against dissidents is not limited inside the regime’s own borders and Iranian dissidents in Camp Liberty – Iraq have to this day been the targets of lethal attacks staged by elements of the Iranian regime in this country.
To this end, in our opinion, Iran, having proven its leaders have no respect for international standards, and is not a trustworthy interlocutor in the struggle to uproot the loathed phenomenon of Islamic fundamentalism in the Middle and Near East regions.
We emphasize that relying on the abovementioned standards and adopting a firm policy, as witnessed in the framework of the nuclear talks with Iran, will place France in a better position in the face of its Iranian correspondents.
More than ever before Iran is in need of establishing economic relations with the West, and therefore, apart from reiterating the emphasis on universal human rights values and principles, only a realistic policy vis-à-vis Iran can rely on a balance that takes into consideration the Iranian people’s democratic demands. There is no reason witnessed that this nation has actually been the benefactor of an opening economic policy that the regime’s various factions intend to take advantage of for their own interests.
A free and democratic Iran is the fundamental and vital condition for stability in the region, both in regards to this country’s history and the realities of the current period in the region. This is exactly why we support the 10-point plan for regime change in Iran presented by Maryam Rajavi, President of the National Council of Resistance of Iran calling for a non-nuclear, democratic Iran based on the separation of church and state, gender equality and peaceful coexistence amongst all neighbors.
