We have heard much from Islam experts with knowledge over the roots of Islamic fundamentalism, be it Sunni or Shiite, that these two are in fact one, and the mullahs’ in Iran are the Godfather of Daesh (the Arabic acronym for the self-proclaimed Islamic State, ISIS). Daesh is a new phenomenon in the past few years, however, the mullahs’ ruling Iran have been around for nearly 40 years, imposing Islamic fundamentalism rule in Iran. This element has two specific characteristics. First, the export of fundamentalism in its current state, being the export of terrorism to neighboring countries. Iran has been busy with this from Lebanon to Syria, and even Bali in Indonesia.

The second characteristic of Islamic fundamentalism is domestic crackdown over the land it rules. To legitimize its measures as a first step it resorts to the fabricated version of so-called Islamic sharia. Through such means, it first and foremost attempts to subjugate women in society. That is why misogyny is at the core of Islamic fundamentalism. Iranian opposition leader Mrs. Maryam Rajavi delivered a speech marking March 8th, International Women’s Day, very briefly explaining the laws used by the Iranian regime to oppress women. Okaz daily provides the following explanation on March 21st:

“Maryam Rajavi said article 167 of the Tehran mullahs’ constitution “specifies a judge extracts the ruling for any dispute from the laws compiled in judicial rulings, and if not found he can cite religious fatwas.” This principle provides judges the freedom of action to issue rulings citing fatwas. However, for the Iranian regime, these fatwas are nothing but Khomeini’s book of fatwas named “Tahrir al-Vasile”. A large portion of this book is imposing inequality to women, legitimizing inhumane measures against women and girls.

“In this book Khomeini justifies having a woman slave under the mullahs’ sharia in a way that he defends slavery in the 21st century. In various rulings, he has also allowed men to have an unlimited number of temporary wives. He has also allowed the followers of the mullahs to, at a time of war, treat women as loot and take them as their own property,” Mrs. Rajavi said.

“Various rights can only be proven by a testimony provided by a man, and it is not true that the testimony of two women is equal to two men. This is not acceptable,” she added from Khomeini’s book.

Khomeini “permitted sexual exploitation of girls less than 9 and even children, and this book has written about marrying off small girls, and downgraded the marriage of women as a mere economic deal, going on to insult the dignity of women,” Rajavi added.

“In the constitution, this book is considered the reference for judicial rulings,” she continued.

“This is exactly what Khomeini emphasized in his book about an ‘Islamic state’, and the Iranian regime has recognized it as a caliphate,” Rajavi said.
