The novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, has taken the lives of over 345,300 people throughout Iran, according to the Iranian opposition PMOI/MEK

Iran, August 2, 2021—Over 345,300 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 547 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Monday afternoon local time, August 2. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 91,407, around a fourth of the actual figure.

The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 80,756 in Tehran, 23,385 in Isfahan, 21,916 in Khuzestan, 20,955 in Razavi Khorasan, 13,513 in East Azerbaijan, 13,380 in Mazandaran, 12,573 in West Azerbaijan, 11,807 in Fars, 11,146 in Gilan, 10,285 in Qom, 10,053 in Alborz, 9880 in Sistan & Baluchistan, 8553 in Kerman, 8135 in Golestan, 6988 in Markazi, 6418 in Kermanshah, 6007 in Yazd, 5855 in Hormozgan, 5455 in Semnan, 4145 in Ardabil, 3904 in Qazvin, 3655 in Zanjan, and 3181 in South Khorasan. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

The regime’s Health Ministry announced the mullahs’ engineered Covid-19 numbers from the past 24 hours on Monday as 411 deaths (highest in the past three months) and 37,189 new cases (new record in this pandemic). Furthermore, 5607 patients (highest in the past seven months) are in ICUs and 4317 of the new cases have been hospitalized. “We are witnessing a 32 percent increase in the number of people hospitalized and 38 percent rise in deaths in comparison to last week. The provinces of Mazandaran, Ilam, Golestan, and Semnan had the highest number of people hospitalized in the past week. The provinces of Alborz, Hormozgan, Yazd, and Bushehr had the highest death tolls,” said the Health Ministry spokesperson, according to the Tasnim news agency, linked to the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force.

“The official stats of people hospitalized and those dying of Covid-19 may slightly differ form the true numbers. The number of people contracting coronavirus is rising and this trend will continue for at least another ten days,” said Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi on Monday. “More recently, we were usually among the first ten or twelve countries regarding the number of people hospitalized and Covid-19 deaths. Usually eight to ten percent, and when reaching the peaks, more than ten percent of those who have been hospitalized die to their illnesses. Forecasts conducted by a U.S.-based university shows that in the news six weeks our Covid-19 death toll will reach around 600 per day, and maybe even 800,” he added, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS). “The numbers of people being hospitalized and dying of Covid-19 in the provinces of Razavi Khorasan, Isfahan, Fars, Tehran, Alborz, Qom, Ilam, Kerman, Hormozgan, and Bushehr are increasing,” Harirchi warned.

In Tehran, Nader Tavakoli, the deputy of the National Covid-19 Task Force, said on Monday, “In the past sixteen months, we’ve never had such an experience. The continuation of this trend is alarming because we don’t have an exact assessment of how far this contagion will go… The Delta variant is surrounding Tehran and we still haven’t reached a point to be able to predict. The situation in Tehran is very critical… The number of hospitalized  coronavirus patients in Tehran has surpassed 10,000 and has registered a new record. The maximum capacity [in Tehran] for coronavirus hospitalization is 10,500 and most of the beds are filled.” (Source: Hamshahri)

In Razavi Khorasan province, the deputy dean of Mashhad Medical Sciences University said on Monday, “Razavi Khorasan has an average of nearly 7,000 new Covid-19 cases per day, and the number is increasing. One month ago, the number of hospitalized patients was 685, but today, we’ve reached 1,957.” (Source: ISNA)

In Isfahan, the dean of the medical sciences university said on Monday, “The province’s hospitals are in critical conditions, and 2,580 covid patients are hospitalized in the province’s facilities.” (Source: IRIB news agency)

In Mazandaran province, the medical sciences of Mazandaran and Babol declared on Monday, “There are currently  3,262 covid patients in medical centers of Mazandaran, and in the past 24 hours, 24 people have lost their lives.” (Source: ILNA)
