Iranian regime Minister of Intelligence in Baghdad ordered Faleh Fayyad to obstruct the sale of Camp Liberty residents’ properties

Thursday, 19 May 2016

According to reports received from Iran, regime’s Minister of Intelligence Mahmoud Alavi reported to Rouhani and Khamenei’s Office in Tehran on his trip to Iraq where he stressed that he has instructed Iraqi National Security Advisor Faleh Fayyad that the Iranian regime is opposed to the sale of the property of People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) in camp liberty and does not allow it.

According to this report it has been decided that ostensibly and in a positive gesture in front of UN eyes, Faleh Fayyad would allow limited and inconsequential sale of some of the residents’ property such that it would not generate any income for the PMOI.

According to this report, Mullah Alavi has demanded more pressure and suppressive measures against the PMOI. Faleh Fayyaz has responded that up till now they have imposed the maximum pressure and control possible on PMOI members in Camp Liberty and that they will continue to do so.

As noted in the past NCRI statements, although the Iraqi government has agreed since three months ago with the sale of the Liberty residents’ properties, the Iraqi agents prevent businessmen from entering the camp and obstruct the sale of the properties that is necessary for bankrolling the resettlement of PMOI members outside of Iraq and thereby disrupt the relocation process. These measures are but a carbon copy of the scenario implemented by the Iranian regime and its agents in Ashraf to pave the way for systematic looting and plundering of residents’ property.

Ever since 2011 that discussions on the transfer of residents to Camp Liberty started, the Iranian regime has done its utmost through its cohorts in Iraq to obstruct the sale of residents’ property. In a statement on 5 April 2013 the Iranian Resistance announced that in his trip to Iraq, the then regime’s Minister of Intelligence had obligated Maliki to loot and to expropriate PMOI property.

The Iranian Resistance reminds the international community of its commitment to the safety and security of Camp Liberty residents and thereby calls on the U.S. government, the European Union, and the United Nations to take urgent action to remove all prohibitions on the sale of residents’ property.

Earlier, on May 18, Congressman Ted Poe of the US Congress had emphasizes that, “As it stands now the Iraqi government is only allowing the residents to take the cloths that they are wearing on their back, they can’t even take their laptop computers. This is their property. It does not belong to Iraq. and the folks that leave camp Liberty and go other places should be allowed to take their personal property to whatever country that they go to. This is only right and justice demands this”
