Iranian Resistance Honors Executed Freedom Fighters and Welcomes Ceasefire
Honoring the Thirteen Executed Freedom Fighters
On Friday, April 10, a major international conference was held to commemorate 13 freedom fighters who were recently executed by the Iranian regime. The event, titled “A Call for Immediate Action to Stop the Execution of Political Prisoners of the People’s Mojahedin Khalq and Brave Dissidents and Protesters,” was held with the participation of prominent global political figures. The main speakers included Maryam Rajavi, former German Minister of Justice Ms. Herta Däubler-Gmelin, former German Federal Minister Franz Josef Jung, former UK Speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow, prominent French lawyer Jean-Pierre Spitzer, and head of the Femo Institute Jean-François Legaret. The conference served as a solemn tribute to six PMOI members, Mohammad Taghavi, Akbar Daneshvarkar, Babak Alipour, Pouya Ghobadi, Abolhassan Montazar, and Vahid Bani Amerian, and seven courageous young protesters who were put to death for the crime of resistance.
The Iranian Resistance Welcomes the Ceasefire
During the conference, the Iranian Resistance welcomed the ceasefire between the US and the Iranian regime, particularly the halt to attacks on civilian infrastructure. Maryam Rajavi expressed hope that this 15-day ceasefire would lead to an end to the war and pave the way for true peace and freedom. Crucially, the conference discussed and proved the Iranian Resistance’s long-standing statement that the clerical regime will not be overthrown by a foreign war. Instead, it was emphasized that lasting peace can only be achieved through the overthrow of this terrorist dictatorship by the people of Iran and their organized resistance. As Rajavi noted, the real war is between the people of Iran and religious tyranny, and the solution lies neither in appeasement nor in foreign intervention, but in a democratic revolution led by the Iranian Resistance.
Voices of Defiance Against the Clerical Regime
The event highlighted the unwavering resolve of the fallen heroes, presenting powerful sentences from their final moments. Maryam Rajavi shared the defiant words of the martyrs, noting that Akbar Daneshvar-Kar declared, “The banner once held by Mohammad Hanifnejad is now in my hands.” Pouya Ghabadi stated, “I will go to the gallows firm and unshaken,” while Babak Alipour called for “a struggle a hundred times greater against the regime.” Abolhassan Montazar expressed that his greatest wish was to die like a Mojahed, and Vahid Bani-Amerian blessed the sacrifice of one’s life for a just society. Furthermore, Mohammad Taqavi bravely told his executioners, “Even if you release me today, I will once again join the PMOI.”
These testimonies underscore the Iranian Resistance’s message that a new, countless generation of youth has joined the struggle. The speakers praised the political prisoners who courageously carry forward the “No to Executions Tuesdays” campaign, proving that executions will only fuel the flames of future uprisings.
The Enduring Legacy of the Iranian Resistance
The speakers at the conference made it clear that the regime’s smear campaigns and toxic propaganda have entirely failed. For over 45 years, the Iranian Resistance has held firmly to the banner of peace and freedom, paying a heavy price in blood. The regime rushed to carry out these recent executions to protect its crumbling power from impending uprisings, yet it only exposed its deep fear of the Iranian Resistance and its network of resistance units. Maryam Rajavi emphasized that ending executions in Iran must be included in any international agreement, as the regime continues to execute youth to preserve its moribund grip on power. The conference concluded with a powerful salute to the families of the martyrs and a reaffirmation that the Iranian Resistance stands as the only worthy alternative and force for democratic change in Iran.
